Late Bloomer is for those who have taken the scenic route to becoming. A celebration of transformation, humility, and arrival , in your own time, on your own terms.
Vimbs Mavimbs - Late Bloomer
As a late bloomer himself, he dedicates this project to all of those other late bloomers, wrestling with making sense of their place in the world. His music delves into music that has shaped his personal identity and artistic expression, exploring his musical evolution rooted in childhood memories and the records that shaped him. The project embodies the spirit of a millennial sound while pushing beyond jazz boundaries, paying tribute to the ideology of ‘late bloomers’ – those with humble beginnings and the transformative process of stepping into a new chapter of life.

Fundraising Concert - Gontse Makhene
In a powerful display of community solidarity, the South African music scene is rallying behind Gontse Makhene, a highly esteemed percussionist and multi-faceted musician whose career has been defined by his rhythmic mastery and profound musicality.
Recently, Makhene suffered a devastating personal tragedy when a fire erupted in his home, consuming his personal belongings and, most critically, the tools of his trade. In response, a powerhouse collective of collaborators has emerged to support his recovery.
To assist Makhene in rebuilding his life and professional toolkit, Peanut Butter Jam and Native Rebel have joined forces with Vimbs Mavimbs to produce a dedicated fundraising concert. This event is more than just a performance; it is a collaborative effort to restore the livelihood of one of the industry's most dedicated artists.
Key Objectives of the Eve
Direct Financial Relief: Every cent generated from ticket sales and donations will go directly to Makhene to help replace the essential items and equipment lost in the blaze.
Cultural Solidarity: The concert serves as a platform for fellow musicians and fans to honor Makhene’s contribution to the arts while providing a tangible safety net during his time of need.
Community Engagement: By bringing together diverse musical entities, the event highlights the strength of the local creative ecosystem in times of crisis.
This initiative represents a vital "call to arms" for the music community to ensure that a musician of Gontse Makhene's caliber can return to the stage as soon as possible.
Food and drinks will be available.
